Ones
& Twos
The Orca Research and Education Centre is supported
by Biocycle wastewater treatment. Given the sensitive
nature of the site and the research focus on conservation
of, and education about orca, it is important
that the most ecologically sensitive system is
installed. |
 |
By processing our waste water through a Biocycle
unit we recycle the water for use in our native
vegetation plantings

Yamaha
One vital aspect of Ingrid’s research is her time
out on the water. She uses a Yamaha four stroke
F150 engine. |
 |
|
By
servicing her engine and keeping it maintenance
free, Yamaha provides the reliability required
for immediate responses to orca call-outs. In
addition, the four-stroke engine is quiet and
economical.

Slides
Slides worked in close association with the
Orca Research Trustteam to design their website.
As the project has expanded we have added with
them to include the Antarctic Killer Whale Identification
Catalogue (A.K.W.I.C.). |
 |
|
Design Online specialises in producing website
designs for small to medium size businesses. Slides
has also been proud to help Ingrid by supplying
her with reproduction high quality 35mm slide
duplicates and 35mm and 120 high end scanning
for her projects. These are used in publications
and slide lectures around the world. The fast
'turn-around' of these duplicates has allowed
Ingrid to utilize images shot out in the field
that day, for lectures given the same night. |

Safety
at Sea (Australasia) Ltd
is a privately owned NZ company that provides
Orca Research with a full compliment of safety
equipment for operating on the water. |
 |
| This
includes Flares, 406MHz EPIRB and of course, the
all important Sospenders inflatable lifejackets.
These jackets are slim and really comfortable
to wear, so much so that Ingrid sometimes she
forgets she is wearing hers! |

Kodak
Film
The key to Ingrid's orca research is the ability
to recognise individual animals. |
|
| To
record these details Ingrid uses Ektachrome Professional
E100 VS slide film. This film also allows her
to use the images in quality reproduction for
posters, books and other quality publications.
