The Whale Trail

The Whale Trail is a tour designed to teach you about marine mammals. It will take you on a trip around New Zealand to visit cetacean (whale and dolphin) hot-spots. There, you will have the chance to swim with dolphins or photograph whales. During the entire tour you will be accompanied by Dr. Ingrid N. Visser, New Zealand’s only orca researcher.

You will venture out to sea on local boats that are government approved, and you will often have local whale and dolphin researchers on board. You will learn how to use rescue equipment designed to save stranded whales and dolphins and visit behind the scenes at one of the worlds largest collections cetacean skeletons.
